Another Week

This will be a short note because Jared is traveling and we totally forgot to email everyone yesterday. I think I'm listed on everyone's blog now and I can "follow" each of your blogs more easily.

We are getting excited and geared up for having all of you home at least for a few hours during the Christmas holiday. We know you all have many things tugging at you, so we thank you for making an effort to spend time with us.

November 30

November 30, 2008
Hi!
We were glad to hear that all of you had a good Thanksgiving Day. We were grateful for the beautiful weather and the time we had to spend with each other. It was also a productive weekend – we got the shed straightened up and went to work and attended the temple and made plans for future fun and games.
We will celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary on Tuesday – not that we will get to spend much of it together, but we are very blessed to have had these years together. Marriage has been the best thing that ever happened to either of us and now that our sons have all grown up and are making their own lives, it is even more important that we have each other.
Joel wanted me to tell you all that May 23 when he and Chelsey will be getting married. This works out well because we have a cruise scheduled for the 4th of July week (if any of you are also planning a summer wedding, and want us to be there, please note!)
From Dad:
I had a good week. I enjoyed spending Thanksgiving with your mom.

From Mom:
I’m planning for a pretty easy week – I have classes Mon – Wed, so only two teaching days. Actually I would rather be teaching than sitting in a boring class for three days, but I said I would do it and so I’m kind of stuck.
Your dad is kind of quiet tonight because he knows that I am going to tell on him. None of the gospel doctrine Sunday school teachers showed up today, so he said he would teach the class. I was helping the Relief Society president with a computer problem so I didn’t make it to most of the class. About 15 minutes before it was over I walked into the room to hear everyone laughing and your dad was standing in the front looking down with his hands on his forehead – I knew he had said something I wouldn’t like so I just stood at the door and stared at him. When people saw that I had walked in they laughed even louder and I knew that I wasn’t going to like what had just been said. Jared finally looked up and realized I was standing there – he made some comment about needing to do tithing settlement (a Mormon Church thing) for the next 24 hours so he wouldn’t have to go home. I sad down and gave him my “this better stop NOW look” and he was able to regain his serious face and finish his lesson.
After I sat down, Susan Cahoon told me that he had told everyone that our Thanksgiving weekend had been wonderful – in fact it had been better than our first honeymoon. I shook my head and tried not to think about what pictures that put into everyone’s head. It got even better when I was told after class that when he made the honeymoon comment, someone said something (he’s forgotten what) that suggested that it had been exactly like a honeymoon – he felt obligated to clarify so he said (and I quote) “Oh, I didn’t get any of that.” Then he realized what he had said and said “I hope my wife doesn’t hear about this” and I chose that moment to walk in. Anyway I have another memory to hold over your dad’s head – life doesn’t get boring even after 31 years of marriage.
Good thing we love each other – and we love you
Dad and Mom
